Ms. Leslie Drake - US Dept. of Commerce
Charleston, WVa. - Terradon Communications Group, a small, rural, woman-owned company located in Nitro, WV, is a provider of Internet software, specializing in content management tools to allow non-technical personnel to manage a web site. Ms. Roxy Turner, with Terradon Communications, reported to CS Charleston Director Leslie Drake that they have successfully secured their first export to Munich, Germany as a result of export assistance and opportunities made available through the U.S. Commercial Service.
In February, Ms. Turner attended the International Update in Charleston, WV. This event, held in cooperation with the U.S. Commercial Service, the West Virginia District Export Council and the West Virginia Development Office, presented information on export assistance available through the Commercial Service and partner organizations in the state. The agenda included Mr. Sven Gerzer, director of the WV European Office, who presented information on opportunities in Europe. Mr. Gerzer is also the president of the Council of American States in Europe (CASE), the official organization in Europe for promoting investment in the United States. CASE's membership consists of 22 states that maintain an office in Europe. During a one-on-one meeting with Mr. Gerzer, Ms. Turner was able to make an introduction of her company and capabilities.
In May 2007, Mr. Gerzer and Ms. Turner reported to Drake that Terradon Communications Group would be supplying content management software that CASE will supply to its members. This contract also calls for the ground-up design and development of CASE's website so that members are able to update their own fact sheet and perform web-edits. The Web site is scheduled to be fully operational by September 2007. Rural Export Initiative funds were used to promote and conduct the seminar, as well as outreach to Terradon Communications Group.
